Each approved building permit will carry a schedule of required inspections. The required inspections will be indicated on the permit card, inspection sticker sheet, and the inspection sheet provided at the time of permit issuance. A project representative or contractor is eligible to request inspections; however, it is the responsibility of the property owner to ensure that the required inspections are performed.

Required Inspections:
  • Soil Erosion/Sediment Control Inspection
  • Footing Inspection - Prior to pouring any concrete
  • Backfill Inspection - Prior to placing any fill material around the foundation
  • Slab Plumbing Inspection - Prior to pouring the basement floor
  • Electric Service Inspection
  • ROUGH Inspections
    • Rough Electrical Inspection - Prior to insulating and drywalling
    • Rough HVAC Inspection - Prior to insulating and drywalling
    • Rough Plumbing Inspection - Prior to insulation and drywalling
    • Rough Framing Inspection - Prior to insulating and drywalling
  • Insulation Inspection
  • Final Engineering Inspection
  • Final Building Inspection

Specialty or additional inspections will be listed on the permit card and inspection sheets. These additional inspections are typically assigned to projects with special conditions or construction sequencing requirements and may include, but are not limited to, rebar inspections, sub-surface insulation inspections, fire wall/barrier inspections, and fire suppression inspections. When included at issuance, specialty or additional inspections do not impact the permit fee. Re-inspections conducted after a schedule inspection is failed for the 2nd time, and nonscheduled inspections will incur a $75 inspection fee.

Scheduling an Inspection:

Inspections must be scheduled at least one (1) business day prior to the requested inspection date. Inspections may be scheduled Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. via phone or in the Planning & Development Office.

Understanding the Inspection Results:
