Health Insurance
McHenry County offers a variety of healthcare plans to choose from; including three medical plans, two dental plans, two vision plans and more. You may elect medical, dental and/or vision insurance premiums to be deducted pre-tax under our 125 plan. Additionally, we offer HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) options to supplement your out-of-pocket expenses that also provide you with a tax advantage.
Retirement
McHenry County offers employees multiple ways to save for retirement:
- Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (Pension). This is an excellent retirement benefit that also offers disability benefits and a death benefit. There is also a Voluntary Additional Contribution option, allowing you to save for additional retirement income at a 7.25% rate of interest.
- 457b Plan/Roth (government equivalent to 401(k)). Employees may select the dollar amount they wish to have deducted from their paycheck, pretax or post tax, and decide how they would like their funds to be distributed.
- HSA (Health Savings Account) doubles as a retirement account. The money left in this account when you retire may be used for anything you want, even if it’s not healthcare related.
