Public Health Ordinance

The Public Health Ordinance has been adopted by the McHenry County Board of Health and the McHenry County Board and sets forth guidelines to protect public health in McHenry County. The Public Health Ordinance is comprised of several Articles, with each Article addressing a separate public health concern. The Public Health Ordinance is applicable to both the incorporated and unincorporated areas of the County.

General Provisions
Article I (ENGLISH) | Article I (ESPAÑOL)
Provides the general authority and enforcement provisions for the Department.

Public Health Nuisance
Article II (ENGLISH) | Article II (ESPAÑOL)
Provides the authority to address general, public health based nuisance conditions.

Food
Article III (ENGLISH) | Article III (ESPAÑOL)
Provides the requirements for provision of food to the public at the retail level in McHenry County.

Wastewater and Sewage Treatment and Disposal

Provides the requirements for onsite wastewater treatment systems in McHenry County.

Provides the requirements related to water supplies other than community water supplies

Public Health Fees
Article VII
Incorporates all public health fees into a single, separate article of the Ordinance to facilitate annual review and updates.

Please note that there are multiple other governmental agencies at the state and federal levels that regulate various Public Health concerns. The list above contains only Articles of the Public Health Ordinance adopted by the McHenry County Board and Board of Health, that are currently in effect.
