The Nursing Division's Maternal/Child health programs place emphasis on improving the health and birth outcomes of low income and Medicaid eligible women, infants and children. Programs include:
- Women Infants and Children (WIC) program
- High Risk Infant Case Management
- Clinic services
As an active member of a strong community healthcare network, referrals for additional services can be provided if a need is assessed. All services are strongly focused on educating families and enabling them to become responsible for their health care and that of their children.
Clinic Services
- Lead screening and testing - assesses children at risk for lead exposure
- Immunizations - provides scheduled vaccines for children beginning at six weeks of age through 18 years old through the Vaccine For Children (VFC) program for uninsured, Medicaid/All Kids recipients and those with insurance that does not cover immunizations. Also, adult vaccines for 19 years of age and older who are uninsured or those with insurance that does not cover vaccines.
Case Management provides support for infants and young children with high-risk medical conditions and referrals to community and social services
WIC (Women Infants and Children) - supplemental food and nutrition program for pregnant, post partum and breastfeeding women, infants and children to age five (5), funded by the US Department of Agriculture and administered through the McHenry County Department of Health
