The Community Health Program encourages sustainable healthy and safe lifestyle behaviors through awareness, education and modification of policy, community structure and physical environments.
Community organizations that promote healthy and safe lifestyles: |
Cycling Without AgeA nonprofit initiative that provides free outdoor recreational rides to seniors who cannot ride a bicycle or who otherwise lack mobility. Learn more about the program by visiting cyclingwithoutage.com/mchenry-county. AgeOptionsTwo courses are available in McHenry County. Take Charge of Your Health, will help individuals with chronic disease identify strategies and techniques to manage chronic health conditions. Classes are usually held in person at a designated location in McHenry County. The other course, Take Charge of Your Diabetes, will focus on self management techniques for individuals who have been diagnosed with Diabetes. Classes are held virtually or in person. Both programs are available through McHenry County Department of Health for English or Spanish speaking participants.
