The McHenry County Board of Health is a 12-member board that votes on matters specific to the McHenry County Department of Health. The Board generally meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 PM, in the Second Floor Conference Rooms of the County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock.
The public is welcome to participate in Board of Health meetings. To address the Board of Health, please complete the sign-in sheet and step forward during the "Public Comment" time when your name is called by the President. Introduce yourself with your name and address. Comments are limited to three minutes. The public may also email their comments to the Board. The Board and its staff will not normally engage in discussions with the public, the Board may later direct staff to respond to the public's concern or request more information after the meeting.

Medical Director to the Board of Health
The Medical Director is the medical liaison to the BOH, advising on medical issues relevant to public health, consulting on medical policy development and review, providing medical supervision to programs, as required, and communications, when requested. The BOH Medical Director holds a current medial license required by state, federal and local governments and either lives or practices in McHenry County.
Medical Director Dr. Laura Tommaso, MD, completed her residency in 2015 and currently serves McHenry County as full-time provider at Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care. She began serving at the Medical Director to the McHenry County Board of Health on July 1, 2022, lending her expertise to the Board of Health on public health in McHenry County.
Program Highlight Presentation
MCDH staff participate in developing and delivering presentations to the Board of Health to highlight the work they are doing in McHenry County and to keep the Board aware of unique public health needs in their communities. These presentations are also available to the public for review.
