The Records Management division assists County Departments with the maintenance, preservation, and accessibility of the public records, both paper and electronic, produced in the course of their work. This service includes the establishment and updating of records retention schedules to ensure compliance with federal, state, and county recordkeeping requirements. Records Management also coordinates the review and legal disposition of County records which have met required retention periods.
Records Management also maintains the County Archives, which contains legacy records dating back to 1838, as well as other inactive paper records for all County Departments. The locations, retention requirements, and circulation history for all of the stored records are tracked through a computerized system.
The Records Division services are available five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
