Background

McHenry County and the McHenry County Council of Governments partnered together to inventory shared services in McHenry County. With the assistance of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), an Advisory Committee was established and a County-wide effort to document and build upon shared services started.  After meetings with municipalities, local government agencies - including park districts, police departments, fire protection districts, library districts and school districts, a draft recommendations document was released for review.

R1 Regional Planning Council Grant Assistance

McHenry County is  member of the R1 Regional Planning Council. With their membership, McHenry County is allocated 800 hours of grant research and grant writing assistance.  McHenry County local government agencies are able to use those regional planning hours at no cost for grant research and/or grant writing assistance.  Several communities have utilized R1 for grant writing and assistance to date.  If your community is looking for grants or needs assistance, please contact Chalen Daigle at cldaigle@mchenrycountyil.gov.

McHenry County Municipal Partnering Initiative (McMPI)

The McHenry County Municipal Partnering Initiative meets every other month to discuss joint purchasing opportunities and ways local governments can work together - namely public works departments.  An annual joint purchasing program is drafted in January; however new joint purchasing opportunities can be added at any time. All are invited to attend these meetings.
