MCDH COVID-19 vaccination clinics welcome walk-in appointments

Post Date:04/30/2021 4:00 PM

The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) is announcing that in addition to opening its COVID-19 vaccination clinics to all Illinois residents, it will also begin accepting walk-in appointments on Tuesday, May 4.

Walk-in appointments will be subject to vaccine supplies at all MCDH mass vaccination clinics. Scheduling an appointment in advance is still encouraged to avoid being turned away from a clinic that has reached supply capacity.

Those who choose to schedule an appointment in advance can do so by completing a questionnaire and searching for open times on the COVID-19 Vaccine Registration form. Those without internet or who need assistance with booking an appointment can call MCDH’s COVID-19 Call Center at (815) 334-4045 or the Illinois Department of Public Health’s vaccine scheduling hotline at (833) 621-1284.

The no-appointment, walk-up clinics are part of a continuing series of efforts aimed at making it easier for all residents to receive COVID-19 vaccines. In addition, MCDH clinics offer evening and weekend hours in order to provide workers who cannot take time during the day to get the vaccine.

Vaccine supplies now exceed the demand for vaccine in McHenry County. Over the past two weeks, the MCDH started seeing a decline in the percent of capacity reached with 96.2% of capacity reached the week of April 13, dropping to 65.5% of capacity the week of April 27.

“We want to make access to the vaccines as easy as possible so that people who haven’t yet received the vaccine can make the choice to join the McHenry County residents who have received at least one dose of the vaccine,” said MCDH Public Health Administrator Melissa Adamson. “These vaccines are a powerful tool in our fight against the COVID-19 virus and our collective goal to return to a sense of normalcy, and opening to walk-up clinics is another means to help us reach this goal.”
