Elgin Recycling will accept the following electronic devices during the event:

- Computers (desktop, laptop, netbook, notebook, tablet), keyboards and mice
- Printers, fax machines, scanners and small-scale servers
- DVD Players, DVD recorders and VCRs

- Digital converter boxes, cable and satellite receivers
Fees apply to recycle televisions and computer monitors: $15 for any size LCD monitor; $25 for all other units (flat screen and tube) 20 inches or smaller; $35 for all other units (flat screen and tube) 21 inches or larger. If you are a resident of the City of Woodstock, fees will be waived. The City of Woodstock ‘Single Bag Fee’ will go towards paying TV/Monitor fees, up to 5 per household. Proof of residency is required.
Free, secure document shredding will also be offered until the shred truck reaches capacity. This service is residential-only and not intended for businesses, and there is a four-banker box limit per vehicle.
Remember these important tips for quick shredding:
- The shredder can only take paper. No CDs or thumb drives.
- Staples and paper clips are OK.
- Binder clips, three-ring binders and the like need to be removed prior to shredding before arriving at the event.
- Participants will need to take back any bags or boxes.
*Please note the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County will not be collecting items at this event.
Additional recycling events are scheduled throughout 2023. For more information about the current and future recycling events, please visit MCDH's Solid Waste Program.
