On Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon at Woodstock North High School, 3000 Raffel Road in Woodstock, MCDH is hosting a residential recycling event to McHenry County residents in partnership with Elgin Recycling, Paper Tiger Document Solutions and the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County. During the event, Woodstock’s ‘Single Use Bag Fee’ will be used toward paying the TV and monitor fees for Woodstock residents, up to five per household, with proof of City of Woodstock residency. Identification will be verified at the event.
Elgin Recycling will accept the following electronic devices during the event:
- Televisions and computer monitors (fees apply)
- Computers (desktop, laptop, netbook, notebook, tablet), keyboards and mice
- Printers, fax machines, scanners and small-scale servers
- DVD Players, DVD recorders and VCRs
- Video game consoles
- Electronic keyboard and portable digital music players
- Digital converter boxes, cable and satellite receivers
Fees apply to recycle televisions and computer monitors: $15 for any size LCD monitor; $25 for all other units (flat screen and tube) 20 inches or smaller; $35 for all other units (flat screen and tube) 21 inches or larger. The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County will be accepting alkaline batteries at a fee of $1 per pound, fluorescent tubes and bulbs for a cost of $.50 to $1 each (depending on length), clean Styrofoam, packing peanuts, reusable bubble wrap and textiles (clothing, linens, rags and shoes tied together by the laces).
