Low-Cost Microchip Clinic for Pets

The McHenry County Department of Health’s Animal Control and Animal Shelter is hosting a low-cost microchip clinic for cat and dog owners from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23. Registration for this event is now open.

This service is only available to McHenry County residents. Spots for this event are available by appointment only. Please call (815) 459-6222 to register. All pets over 4 months old must be up to date on their rabies vaccination to receive a microchip at this event.

The cost of a microchip is $15. Senior citizens and veterans will receive a discounted fee of $5 to microchip their pets. To receive the discounted rate, proof of eligibility will be requested when scheduling their appointment. Payment will be accepted via cash only.

McHenry County pet owners will have more opportunities to get low-cost microchips for their pets. The health department will host one low-cost microchip clinic each month during the summer. Future event dates and registration information will be announced on the health department's website
