Alkaline Battery Recycling

Battery sizes AA, AAA, C, D and 9-volt from residential sources will be accepted at no cost.

Residents may drop off their single-use non-rechargeable batteries at the MCDH Division of Environmental Health office, 667 Ware Rd, Suite 110, in Woodstock.  A mask must be worn to enter the building.

Batteries will be accepted from October 4 until October 8 during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To find a location that accepts rechargeable batteries, such as lithium-ion cell phone, laptop, rechargeable drill or other small appliance rechargeable batteries, vehicle or etc.,  please visit the McHenry County Green Guide.

MCDH is unable to accept other types of recyclable materials or waste during this drop-off program, but another residential recycling opportunity will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 16, at Chesak Elementary School, 10910 Reed Road in Lake in the Hills. More information about the October 16 recycling event is available on the McHenry County Department of Health's Solid Waste Program page
