McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) encourages residents to save the date for a single day Residential Document Destruction and Battery Recycling Event set for 8:00 a.m. until Noon on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the McHenry County Administration Building (North parking lot) located at 667 Ware Road in Woodstock.
Items that will be accepted include confidential paper documents and alkaline batteries from residential sources. Documents with staples, paperclips, small spiral bindings, file folders with small metal pieces, and cellophane envelope windows are acceptable. Residents may bring the following alkaline batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, button cell and 9-volt only).
Secure on-site document shredding service for sensitive and confidential information will be provided by Accurate Document Destruction. All of the paper collected and shredded on-site will be recycled. Please remember to remove all binder clips, three-ring plastic binders and any larger metal pieces. Please do not bring periodicals, magazines, or other paper that does not contain sensitive or confidential information. These materials should go into your household recycling container for regular curbside recycling pickup service. Alkaline batteries collected will be recycled to create ingredients for fertilizers, steel, paper and plastic.
